How to solve error message - Cannot Shift Objects off Sheet

Occasionally when hiding rows or columns you may see the Error message “Cannot Shift Objects off Sheet”. This is because the Notes/Comments in the program (e.g. the little red triangles in cells) have a life of their own, and for whatever reason, have moved in terms of Excel (they are objects). We find this very frustrating and have not found a fix for the “moving objects”. However, we do have a work-around.

The Fix: If you where trying to hide rows, you will need to unhide the rows are the bottom of the sheet. If you were trying to hide columns, you will need to unhide the columns to the right of the report.

Step 1 is to unprotect the file. Click on the Tools listing (Hammer & Wrench icon) in LseMod or LseSum’s toolbar and scroll down to the last listing, select Change Protection Status (toggles between On/Off). The command toggles between On and Off.

Step 2 is to highlight the last column (assuming it is a column issue) on the right, and keeping your finger on the mouse drag RIGHT. Next go to Excel’s menu and select Format, Column, Unhide.

Step 3 is to put Protection back on by following the instructions in Step 1.
